Make an appointment with your doctor if, your back pain:

- is intensified or constant at night when you are in a lay down position;
- spreads down to one or even both legs;
- causes numbness and weakness in one or both the legs;
- causes bladder or new bowel problems;
- produces pulsation, fever and abdominal pain;
- results in a fall;
- leads to an unexplained weight loss;
- results in losing control over going to the bathroom;
- is making you feel anxious and depressed;
- stretches downwards along the back of the leg as you may be suffering from sciatica;
- occurs in one part of your spine when lying in or getting out of the bed;
- is not improving even after 2 to 3 weeks.

As for the people over 50 years of age who suffer from back pain and have a history of cancer, osteoporosis, alcohol, drug or steroid use, need to consult the doctor immediately. Because, these are the conditions that require an immediate consultation with the doctor, in absence of which the situation could get complicated leading to disability and other serious problems.
